As an Orange County family photographer, few experiences are as rewarding as building lasting relationships with families like the Bouteliers. Our journey began when their firstborn was just six months old, and it’s been a privilege to document their growth over the years.

After relocating from Los Angeles to Newport Beach, Jenna and Nick sought to capture their family memories in a setting that truly feels like home—the very beaches where their daughters, Dillon and Sydney, are growing up. This year’s session was a quintessential example of Newport Beach family photography, featuring the enchanting golden hour light that bathed the family in a warm, honeyed glow. We commenced near the iconic lifeguard towers, allowing the girls to play freely as the sun cast its soft, diffused light, creating elongated shadows and a magical ambiance. When creating imagery for families, I hope to tell their story. I hope that what I create allows the viewer to go back in time for a moment, relishing in the sentiment of that chapter of his/her life , as a way to still hold onto it, in a sense. We all know time can be a fleeting thing but creating imagery that reflects the stage of life you are in now , allows you to re-live that beautiful moment again later. Photographs are what keep us connected ; reminding us of people, places, feelings, and stories.

Whether its remembering as a child how you flew high in the air when dad jumped on the trampoline with you, the nostalgia of moms scent when you cuddled up beside her with a book, or the sound of notes on the piano playing in the house with your fur-babies crowding around your feet; all of it encompasses a part of your story, a sliver of their childhood . Photographs are a way to savor that. Reminds me of my fav quote ; “You never know the value of a photograph, until its all you have left“. Ain’t that the truth though? Something to ponder when considering whether to take the picture or be in the picture. ;)
